YSU enrolls over 12,000 students each year. It offers more than 100 undergraduate majors and 24 graduate programs around its seven colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Engineering and Technology, Fine and Performing Arts, Health and Human Services, and the School of Graduate Studies. The university is fully accredited.

The English Language Institute (ELI) at Youngstown State University offers a non-credit intensive English program for students from around the globe. Classes are available to college-bound students, permanent residents, immigrants, and special interest groups. The Program provides five levels of classes – Introductory, Beginning, Intermediate, High Intermediate, Advanced. The are three terms per year – Fall (15 weeks), Spring (15 weeks), Summer (10 weeks). You can choose between full (23 hours per week) or part-time studies. Course offerings – Grammar, Reading/Writing, Listening/Speaking, TOEFL Preparation, Pronunciation. Conditional admission to YSU’s undergraduate program for ELI students who meet University entrance requirements is provided. Besides, there is a low student-teacher ratio 10:1.
