The ESL Department offers a variety courses to suit your needs. Courses are grouped in one of the following categories:
English for Academic Purposes courses prepare students for academic success and are intended for students interested in pursuing a college degree in the U.S. Each of the three-credit equivalent courses is organized into one of three levels: beginning, intermediate and advanced. Students must finish all courses in each level before signing up for courses at the next level. Students at the advanced level are allowed to take certain credit courses at the same time.
Comprehensive ESL courses help students meet personal, academic, or employment goals through improved writing, reading, listening, and speaking for real-world communication.
Special Topic courses give ESL students a chance to expand on the skills they are studying in other courses or to study additional topics.
English Basic Skills courses are for students who have had minimal English training prior to attending class. These courses integrate listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students become familiar with English skills for everyday life. Funding from the State of Maryland enables the college to offer integrated skill classes at no cost to Anne Arundel County residents.
